Family TV night just got a little easier to plan. Networks and streaming services are locking in their lineups for the 2026-27 season, and the good news for suburban households is that most of the shows your family already loves are sticking around.

Let’s start with the wins. If your crew gathers on the couch for CBS procedurals, you’re in luck. Tracker is back for Season 4, FBI returns for Season 8, and Fire Country keeps burning into Season 5. Ghosts, the wholesome haunted farmhouse comedy that has become a genuine family favorite in a lot of living rooms, got the green light for Season 6. And yes, Survivor is still going strong at Season 51, which means another round of family bracket competitions at your kitchen table.

Over on ABC, the renewals list reads like a greatest hits of comfort television. Grey’s Anatomy pushes into Season 23, which at this point feels less like a TV show and more like a shared family heirloom. Abbott Elementary, the feel-good teacher comedy that parents and teenagers somehow both enjoy, is confirmed for Season 6. The Rookie returns for Season 9. And if your household runs on American Idol and Shark Tank, both are coming back, Idol for its 9th season on ABC (24th overall) and Shark Tank for Season 18.

Good news for reality fans.

America’s Funniest Home Videos is still here at Season 37, which makes it older than a lot of the parents currently watching it with their kids. The Bachelor is back for Season 30, and Dancing With the Stars returns for Season 35. Those shows aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Bravo households can breathe easy too. Below Deck Mediterranean hits Season 11, The Real Housewives of Orange County reaches the milestone of Season 20, and Vanderpump Rules is returning for Season 13. Watch What Happens Live got picked up for both Seasons 23 and 24 at once, which practically never happens.

Now, the shows your family should get excited about beyond the renewals. ABC has a new series called The Rookie: North in the works, which should appeal to anyone who’s burned through the original. There’s also a revival of Scrubs coming, listed as Season 2, which tells you something about just how hungry audiences are for comfort viewing right now.

For families still waiting on answers, there’s a solid handful of shows sitting in what the industry calls “bubble” territory. CBS hasn’t yet confirmed things like The Price Is Right for Season 55, Let’s Make a Deal for Season 18, or 60 Minutes for Season 59, though tracking coverage of the full renewal list shows these decisions are still rolling in week by week. Bravo is also still deciding on Top Chef Season 24 and Summer House Season 11.

What does this all mean for your family’s watch schedule? Practically speaking, don’t cancel any of your streaming subscriptions just yet. The real story of the 2026-27 season isn’t just which shows survived. It’s how many of them are doubling down on the kind of storytelling suburban families actually want: procedurals with clear moral stakes, competition shows that spark dinner table debates, and comedies that don’t require you to explain anything to a 12-year-old mid-episode.

A few quick tips for navigating the season.

If you’ve been putting off starting Matlock, now’s a great time. It’s renewed for Season 3 on CBS, so you won’t get burned by investing in a show that disappears on you. Same goes for Beyond the Gates, which CBS picked up for Seasons 3 and 4 in one shot. Shows with multi-season pickups are the closest thing to a guarantee you’ll get in network television right now.

Keep an eye on the bubble shows. Networks tend to make their final calls by late May, so bookmark your favorites and check in around then. If a show you love is still listed as “still waiting,” the best thing you can do is watch it live or same-day if possible. Ratings still matter, especially for network television.

And if you’re looking for something brand new to add to the rotation, ABC’s Do You Want Kids? is a fresh title joining the schedule, no prior seasons required.

The fall lineup is shaping up to be a pretty solid one for families who just want to sit down together, turn off the noise, and watch something good.
